Interior Design and Decoration is a multi-faceted profession in which both creative and technical solutions are applied to achieve a desired interior environment.
In the past, an idea, or style was used throughout a room to present a consistent theme. Examples of this are Mid-Century Modern, Minimalist, International, Louis XV, Louis XVI, Victorian, English Georgian, Feng Shui, Indian Mughal, Gothic, Art Deco, and many more.
The evolution of interior decoration and design styles has now grown to include themes that are not consistent with a specific period style, but allow the mixing of pieces from different periods.
As such each element should contribute to either form, or function, (or both) and should maintain a consistent standard of quality, combining to create the desired interior. Interior Designers/Decorators help a client develop an interior that has the style and theme that they like and mentally connect to. |
