Knowledge & ExperienceChristine studied and trained as a designer in Melbourne, Australia, before heading for Italy in the seventies to study art and design. She then took further courses in London, before joining an English icon, "The General Trading Company", as an assistant designer. When she returned home, Christine worked at Grahme Geddes Antiquities as an antiques restorer, before joining the exclusive design section of Melbourne's leading department store, George's. It was during this time that Christine was exposed to the older, established families and their style of decoration, which was flamboyant and very English.
Five years later, Christine set up her company, "Christine Saunders Design". Today she continues to directly work in her business and describes herself as being more of a decorator than an interior designer, even though she takes most of her design projects all the way through, from beginning to end. Frequently, Christine will be asked to conceive the interior and exterior ideas and will then employ people to execute the drawings and work on the architecture. She has come to realise that her talent at visualisation is exemplary and has surrounded herself with a highly skilled team that can follow her lead and bring her ideas to fruition. |
